(We introduced the 'PERFECT' Crappie Jig a little over five years ago. In that short period, a zillion of these little 'crappie magnets' have hit the water. One angler from Visalia, CA, stated that he was afraid the crappie were going to become extinct in his local waters due to our jig's effectiveness. He stated that it was all the 'locals' were using and it was even better than live bait. Now, that's a pretty strong testimonial! But, if it is not the absolute BEST crappie jig you have ever used, you will flat get your money back, no questions asked. It is really that good!!)
The 'PERFECT' Jig (manufactured for us by famous crappie guide, Bob Young) is the best crappie jig I have ever found. It has no bells, whistles, rattles, or any of those extemporaneous things designed to make it seem a 'magic' lure. It is just a quality-made crappie jig that out-fishes any I have used in the past.
Here are the design criteria elements we used to select this excellent jig:
- It is streamlined, with a compact body and a feather tail -- no floppy legs or tail to catch the wind and reduce casting distance, or cause line twisting;
- The hook eye is set back in the lead head to make the jig set level when fished vertically;
- The weight is an optimum 1/16th oz., perfect for light spinning gear;
- The body is heavy chenille wrapped, with a nylon thread tie and a touch of super glue; it will never ravel or tear, as will plastics;
- The small hook will not ream out a hole in the crappie's mouth, as a big hook does, and possibly allow him to get away.
The 'PERFECT' crappie jig now comes in eight (8) fish catching color, our six (6) original colors and two (2) brand new ones!  A lot of you crappie anglers have been after us to make the 'PERFECT' Crappie Jig in what appear to be the two most popular colors in the country - a solid chartreuse and a hot pink version, So, we listened and made up a number of prototypes utilizing those colors. Then, we tested them while fishing in Florida, Alabama, Arkansas, North Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee waters.
The results are our two new colors: the 'Slick Willie' in solid chartreuse, and the 'Hot Momma', a hot pink body, w/ chartreuse tail version. All colors we finally selected were just awesome. The 'Hot Momma' may be the all time best I haver seen for very stained to muddy waters. At one time, I would always use a hot pink tube jig when the water was esceptionally dirty. But, tubes tear up and slip down on the jig head a lot. The 'PEREFECT' Crappie Jig in our hot pink, w/chartreuse tail, is just what its name says - perfect!
The 'Slick Willie' is the ultimate answer to the angler who likes solid chartreuse. It is just perfect. Maybe we hit right on the ideal shade of chartreuse color. Whatever, it is as good as any color we carry.
